MANASQUAN,
N.J. — The national healthcare crisis is growing in
severity. Costs are spiraling out of control. Forty-seven million
Americans are without health insurance and there is a general lack of
access to quality care. Americans are concerned.
“Although America leads the
world in spending on health care, it is the only wealthy,
industrialized nation that does not ensure that all citizens have
coverage," according to the Institute of Medicine.
Heading into the 2008 election
campaign, healthcare reform has become a major issue. There is a
groundswell of support for reform, though efforts are stalled in
Washington leaving it to the states to come up with answers. They are
confronting healthcare coverage for the uninsured, transparency and
accountability.
“With a change in the way
