MANASQUAN, NJ -- March 26, 2008: The 2008 Office of the Inspector General's (OIG) work
plan provides a list of areas considered subject to abuse, and
therefore, increased scrutiny. Although many of the 2008
OIG’s initiatives are carried over from past years, this year
it has included several new focus areas.
The recovery audit contractor (RAC) demonstration
program was slated to end this month, but the Tax Relief and Health
Care Act of 2006 has made the RAC program permanent. It
requires that HHS implement the program to identify Medicare
underpayments and overpayments nationwide by 2010. To accomplish that
objective, CMS plans to implement the RAC program in phases with the
first phase beginning now.
Join Healthcare Reimbursement Monitor
and Duane Abbey, a renowned healthcare
compliance and reimbursement expert, for "Identifying Top Reimbursement
Compliance Issues in 2008: Preparing For OIG, Medicare Contractor, and
RAC Audits," scheduled for Thursday, April 3,
2008 from 1:30 – 3:30 pm EST.
Attend to identify the coding, billing and reimbursement
compliance issues identified by RAC audits and the OIG FY2008 Work
Plan. Position your organization and resources to meet, or
exceed, the top areas of enforcement. And take away tips and
tools that you can immediately put to use.
Presenters include Duane
Abbey, PhD, CFP
Abbey & Abbey Consultants, Inc.
