Executive Audio Conference To Explore Managed Care Formulary and Pharmaceutical Benefit Management Under E-Prescribing

MANASQUAN, NJ, March 14, 2005 – “E-Prescribing is at the top of the list of e-health applications that will see the greatest growth in the months ahead, according to executives participating in a survey conducted by the Managed Care Information Center (MCIC). To examine the impact of e-prescribing, the MCIC has scheduled a new tele-conference “Managed Care Formulary and Pharmaceutical Benefit Management Under E-Prescribing,” Thursday, March 24 at 1:30 p.m.

“E-Prescribing makes formularies automatically and electronically accessible, and therefor considerably more enforceable, at the point of prescriptions,” according to Dr. Martin B. Silverstein, co-author of the Boston Consulting Group report “Vital Signs: E-Health in the United States.”

In addition, guidelines has recently been adopted by the American Medical Association (AMA) House of Delegates to help physicians safely and securely prescribe medications to patients over the Internet.

“Managed Care Formulary and Pharmaceutical Benefit Management Under E-Prescribing,” a 90-minute live audio conference, will explore the impact of e-prescribing PBMs and managed care formularies.

Speaker panelists Amanda Daniels, Director of Strategic Initiatives, National Medical Health Card Systems; Dr. Peter N. Kaufman, CMO, DrFirst Inc.; and Anthony J Schueth, Managing Partner, Point-of-Care Partners, LLC, will cover the following topics:

  • Overview of e-prescribing, drivers and trends.
  • Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act.
